Palm
Palm are perhaps best known for their early PDA devices and their proprietary operating system, which has managed to hold its own to some extent against the mobile versions of Windows. Palm PDAs have gradually evolved into smartphones which have lately been looking to take a slice of the lucrative “iPhone market” (for want of a better expression!) They have even adopted an “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” policy, including Windows Mobile instead of Palm OS on some of their models, such as the Treo 700w.
Bear in mind that some of Palm’s models are CDMA-only and therefore cannot be unlocked. However, we have included a couple for the sake of completeness.
The latest addition to the range is the Palm Pre, which is causing something of a stir, and while not an iPhone killer (though Apple are making grumbling noises regarding certain similarities), it is provoking a great deal of interest.
