The Nokia 8800 series has for several years now been Nokia’s most exclusive (read “expensive”) phone, from the original 2005 version, to the 8800 Arte and the 8800 Scirocco, each of these models having various iterations of their own – the Scirocco Black, Gold and Silver, and the Arte Sapphire and Carbon (successor to the Sapphire, to be released Q3 or Q4 2008 – looking like Q4 right now), to name but some.
They share a similar (though not identical) fashionable, high-end design, but differ somewhat in specification, the 8800 Scirocco being somewhat shorter on features, with only a 208 x 208 screen, compared to the 240 x 320 of the Arte and lower colour-depth too, with only 260,000 colours compared to the 16 million offered by the other models. The 8800 also has a poorer battery life – only 1.75 hours talk-time, compared to the 2-3 hours of the other models.
The 8800 Carbon model is the one we will all be wanting, but it won’t be appearing on eBay just yet. We will let you know when it does! In the meantime, browse the rest of the Nokia 8800 series – new and unlocked!
