Dream/Google/T-Mobile G1
The HTC Dream phone is otherwise known as the Google or T-Mobile G1, the first commercial phone to feature Google’s new “open” mobile operating system Android. Complicated? OK, let’s try again: the phone is made by HTC and was originally called the Dream, the operating system is Google’s Android and the phone is T-Mobile branded and is only initially available through this carrier.
The new “Google phone” is a fully-featured smartphone with a 528Mhz Qualcomm processor, an internal 1Gb of storage, 3.2 megapixel camera, full QWERTY sliding keyboard and much much more.
Although Android is envisaged as an “open” system, the T-Mobile G1 IS locked into the T-Mobile network. Luckily those hard-working unlockers have been busy and there are already unlocked HTC Dream/Google/T-Mobile G1 phones available (oh, let’s just call it the Google Phone for now!), new and unlocked.
