Motorola have announced the new Defy, intended to be a robust phone to be used on the beach or in the great outdoors, that can take some water, a few scratches or a couple of knocks, and keep dust out too.

The Motorola Defy runs Android 2.1 out of the box, as well as Motorola’s Motoblur messaging/social platform. It has a 3.7″ screen, allowing plenty of browsing space, and the integrated web browser includes Flash Lite too.

To celebrate the launch of the exciting new Palm Pre, we decided to start a new section devoted to Palm smartphones (new and unlocked, where possible!).

Palm have pretty much completed the evolution from the dedicated electronic personal organiser to the smartphone/PDA hybrid that is demanded by today’s market, and you can find plenty of recent models in our Palm listings, such as the Treo Pro and the Treo 750, which are now available at very modest prices, new and unlocked, of course!

HTC Magic

HTC have made clear their commitment to the Google Android platform at the Mobile World Congress in Madrid, announcing three new Android-based models to be released this year. So far only one model has been named – the Magic (pictured – available here soon!) while it is known that a next-generation smartphone is also planned.

While we are talking about HTC, we have expanded our listings to include a couple more models, both of them upcoming versions of the successful HTC Touch models, called the Diamond2 and the Pro2. At time of publishing we had seen a few phones appearing advertised as unlocked Pro 2/Diamond 2 models, but the listings appeared to be misleading and we would urge caution until the models start appearing in numbers.

We have finally added a section listing new and unlocked cellphones from the grandaddy of cellphones themselves – Motorola. It was Motorola that produced the very first handheld mobile phone and they are still on the cutting edge with models such as the V3 Razr and the K1 Krzr.
